Jika kita hanya menginginkan webserver lokal kita yang berbasis Windows mampu menjalankan aplikasi yang ditulis dengan ASP, cukuplah kita menggunakan Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS). Tetapi, ada keadaan dimana kita menginginkan aplikasi PHP kita dapat berjalan bersamaan dengan IIS sekaligus. Secara default, baik IIS maupun Apache Webserver berjalan pada port 80.

If you are running Windows XP Professional on your computer you can install Microsoft’s web server, Internet Information Server 5.1 (IIS) for free from the Windows XP Pro installation CD and configure it to run on your system by following the instructions below:

1. Place the Windows XP Professional CD-Rom into your CD-Rom Drive.

2. Open ‘Add/Remove Windows Components’ found in ‘Add/Remove Programs’ in the ‘Control Panel’.

3. Place a tick in the check box for ‘Internet Information Services (IIS)’ leaving all the default installation settings intact.

4. Once IIS is installed on your machine you can view your home page in a web browser by typing ‘http://localhost’ (you can substitute ‘localhost’ for the name of your computer) into the address bar of your web browser. If you have not placed your web site into the default directory you should now be looking at the IIS documentation.

5. If you are not sure of the name of your computer right-click on the ‘My Computer’ icon on your desktop, select ‘Properties’ from the shortcut menu, and click on the ‘Computer Name’ tab.

6. Your default web directory to place your web site in is ‘C:\Inetpub\wwwroot’, but if you don’t want to over write the IIS documentation found in this directory you can set up your own virtual directory through the ‘Internet Information Services’ console.

7. The ‘Internet Information Services’ console can be found in the ‘Administration Tools’ in the ‘Control Panel’ under ‘Performance and Maintenance’, if you do not have the control panel in Classic View.

Baru saja saya menginstall aplikasi yang berekstensikan asp not php untuk komputer yang berhubungan dengan jaringan, syarat utama untuk bisa menjalankan aplikasi ini adalah harus terinstallnya Internet Information Service (IIS). Untuk memastikan apakah sudah aktif di dilihat seperti dibawah ini :

1. Klik Start - Control Panel
2. Pilih Add or Remove Programs - Add/Remove Windows Components.
3. Kalau belum aktif, maka aktifkan dulu dengan mengklik (cek) pada pilihan tersebut lalu silahkan ikuti perintah selanjutnya dengan memasukan CD Windows Installer sampai selesai.

Nah, Tahap pertama untuk menginstall aplikasinya adalah Komputer server ( disini saya sebutkan saja Komputer 1 ) dengan memberikan alamat IP Address 192.168.0.1 dan untuk Komputer yang tinggal mengganti alamat terakhir saja, eg. 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3 …. dst.

• Tahap berikutnya saya membuat dan memasukan semua file installer kedalam folder C :\asp.
• Selanjutnya klik Start - Control Panel - Adminstrative Tools - IIS
• Buatlah Web sites di virtual directory – berikan nama aliasnya ( eg. LatihanASP ) lalu pilih direktori penyimpanan file installer tadi yaitu C:\asp selanjutnya Next lalu Finish.

• Sampai disini, apabila aplikasi terkoneksi/berbasis kedatabase maka kita harus memasukan databasenya, masih didalam menu Adminstrative Tools pilih Data Sources (ODBC), masuk kedalam system DNS dan tambahkan dengan mengklik tombol Add, karena database berformat .mdb ( Microsoft access ) maka pilihlah Microsoft Access driver (*.mdb), lalu Finish.
• Masukan Data Source Namenya dan juga pilih databasenya dengan menglik tombol Select … Akhiri OK dan Ok,

Sekarang kita test dengan membuka penjelejah Internet kesukaan masing-masing, dan masukan alamat address yaitu http://localhost/virtualdirektory/ ambil contoh sesuai settingan diatas maka menjadi http://localhost/latihanASP/index.asp, sebagai catatan file index.asp hanyalah contoh saja apabila setiap membuka aplikasi bukan bernama file index.asp maka tinggal di sesuaikan saja.

Sampai disini untuk penginstallan di komputer server telah selesai, sekarang kita akan mensetting agar komputer yang lain dapat mengkases aplikasi tersebut, caranya sangatlah mudah sekali …

Ok sekarang kita mulai, tanpa mengutak atik komputer server lagi kita langsung komputer client dengan membukan internet explorer ( browser favorit nehh ), lalu ketikan alamat addressnya http://192.168.0.1/latihanASP/index.asp dengan menunggu sejenak maka aplikasi berbasis asp dapat dijalankan di computer client.
