Internet Explorer For Linux

Sebagai bahan percobaan adalah menggunakan distro openSUSE 10.3, langkah-langkah yang akan diberikan adalah cara menginstall IE6 dengan mendownload aplikasi dan file-file yang diperlukannya dari komputer terpisah dan diinstall ke komputer yang lain, berikut mengintall Internet Explorer 6.0 di distro openSUSE.

1. Install aplikasi wine dan cabextract
2. Download ies4linux-2.0.5.tar.gz
3. Buat folder /.ies4linux/download/ie6/EN-US/ di folder /root
4. Download file : DCOM98.EXE, 249973USA8.exe, mfc40.cab, ie55sp2_9x.zip. simpan pada folder root/.ies4linux/download/
5. Download file : ADVAUTH.CAB, CRLUPD.CAB, HHUPD.CAB, FONTCORE.CAB, FONTSUP.CAB, IEDOM.CAB, IE_EXTRA.CAB, IE_S1.CAB, IE_S2.CAB, IE_S3.CAB, IE_S4.CAB, IE_S5.CAB, IE_S6.CAB, SCR56EN.CAB, VGX.CAB, SETUPW95.CAB.simpan file-file tersebut di direktori /root/.ies4linux/download/ie6/EN-US/
6. Sampai disini, extract file ies4linux-2.0.5.tar.gz, dengan perintah :

tar zxvf ies4linux-2.0.5.tar.gz

dikmawebid:~ # cd /root

dikmawebid:~ # cd .ies4linux

dikmawebid:~/.ies4linux # ls

bin downloads ie.png ie55 ie6 ie7.png ies4linux-2.0.5 ies4linux.svg

dikmawebid:~/.ies4linux # cd ies4linux-2.0.5

dikmawebid:~/.ies4linux/ies4linux-2.0.5 #

selanjutnya beri perintah :

dikmawebid:~/.ies4linux/ies4linux-2.0.5 # sh ies4linux

preloader: Warning: failed to reserve range 00000000-60000000

WARNING: unknown locale setting; no translations available.

You are root! This is very discouraged! IE is too insecure for you to give him root access.

Loo, koq tetap mendowload file-file yang sudah ada didowanload sebelumnya, hehehe ternyata ada satu file lagi yang belum di copykan, file ini fungsinya adalah mengabaikan file-file yang diperlukan, apabila file tersebut telah didownload sebelumnya, silakan download disini. extract file tersebut lalu kopikan kedalam folder /.ies4linux/download/

Selanjutnya  ikuti perintah seperti diatas, dan liat tampilannya selanjutnya setelah anda menekan enter sebanyak 3 kali …

hhhmmm, aplikasi berhasil terinstall .. terakhir untuk menjalankan, berikan perintah

ie6 atau ie55 sesuai versi masing-masing

Sedikit catatan : Kekurangan cara ini adalah kita harus mendownload sata persatu file tersebut, namun demikian adalah keuntungan yang didapat kita tidak perlu lagi mendowload file-file tersebut untuk menginstall di komputer yang lain, yang pasti bagi kamu-kamu yang suka mengutak-atik komputer tidak ada salahnya menggunakan sedikit trik ini.
